seeing all this on my way home - anybody know the name of the violet flower?

(the bird posed for me a long time just like that, clearly proud of the worm he'd caught)

Ei kun tarkoitin tuota alimpana olevaa - lemmikin sentään tunnistan. :) Sillä on kyllä kaunis nimi niin suomeksi kuin muillakin kielillä!

Caught? Catched? is catched an american englishism?

P likes it when I correct her, but feel completely free to tell me to bog off. When I qualified as a TEFL teacher my internet friends spent weeks finding grammar and spelling mistakes on my blog until I banned it :)

Pikkutalvio. Sitä on olemassa sinisenä ja violettina.

Mary, feel free to correct any mistakes, if no one corrects them I'll never learn the right way - though this one I blame on lack of sleep, I learned it's 'caught' years and years ago! ;) Maybe I should begin editing my entrys before posting - this isn't the first silly mistake I've made...

Helmiina, kiitos tiedosta!

And by the way, Mary, Mum says thanks for the birthday wishes and sends her love. I've been meaning to ask P for your e-mail address to tell you this, but I always forget (forgetting runs in the family, at least in our generation...).
